My name is Fr. John Wykes, OMV.  I am a Roman Catholic priest and religious with the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV).  I am also an independent filmmaker and videographer.

This website is a smorgasbord of blogs, articles, reflections and essays – all having to do with media (most especially cinema).  There are also various links, still images, videos and films.

Over these many years, I’ve made some good films and some poor ones.  I am very thankful for my poor films.  From them I have learned a great deal about patience, humility, and perseverance.  My mistakes are some of the best teachers I have ever had.

I love watching films, especially great films, and love telling others about them.  I love beautiful art and visiting museums.  I love great music.

I love the news (especially great news shows featuring quality journalism – hard to come by nowadays).
